1śrīvarddhamānam ānutya syādvādanyāyanāyakaṃ | prabuddhāśeṣatattvārthaṃ patravākyaṃ vicāryate || 2kasmāt punaḥ śrīvarddhamānam arhaṃtaṃ bhagavaṃ taṃ syādvādanyāyanāyakaṃ prakarṣeṇa sākṣādbuddhāśeṣadravyaparyāyātmajīvādipadārtham evānutya patravākyam ācāryaparaṃparayā vicarat vicāryate | nanv akṣapādādyekāṃtavādinām anyatamam ity atrocyate | 3naikāṃtavādināṃ patravākyaṃ saṃbhavadarthakaṃ | tattattvādhigamopāyaprakāśarahitatvataḥ || yat tu saṃbhavadarthātmā na tat tādṛkṣam īkṣitaṃ | yathā syādvādabhṛdvākyaṃ tadṛkvedaṃ na tat tathā || 4nanv akṣapādādīnāṃ patravākyaṃ tāvan nety ayuktaṃ tasya prasiddhāvayavatvena prasiddhatvāt devadattādivākyavat | nāpi tad asaṃbhavadarthakaṃ sveṣṭasyārthasya sādhakatvāt | na cāsādhugūḍhapadaprāyam api patram āsajyate sādhugūḍhapadaprāyasyaiva nirākulasya tasya tair āveditatvāt | tad ucyate — 5prasiddhāvayavaṃ vākyaṃ sveṣṭasyārthasya sādhakaṃ | sādhugūḍhapadaprāyaṃ patram āhur anākulaṃ || 6kathaṃ punaḥ prasiddhāvayavatvādiviśeṣaṇaviśiṣṭaṃ vākyaṃ patraṃ nāma tasya śrutipathasamadhigamyapadasamudāyaviśeṣarūpatvāt patrasya tadviparītākāratvāt | na ca yad yato 'nyat tat tena vyapadiśyate 'tiprasaṃgāt | nīlādayo 'pi hi kaṃbalādibhyo 'nye ၊ na te nīlādivyapadeśahetavaḥ teṣāṃ tadvyapadeśahetutayā pratīyamānatvāt kirīṭādīnāṃ puruṣe tadvyapadeśahetutvavat tadyogāt tatra matvarthīyavidhānāt | nīlādayaḥ saṃti yeṣāṃ te nīlādayaḥ kaṃbalādaya iti guṇavacanebhyo matvarthīyasyābhāvaprasiddher iti cet upacaritopacārād iti kramaḥ | śrotrapathaprasthāyino hi śabdātmakasya padasamudāyaviśeṣarūpasya lipyām upacāraḥ tatra tasya janair āropyamāṇatvāt lipyupacaritavākyasyāpi patre samupacaryamāṇatvāt tatra likhitasya patrasthatvāt tadupacaritopacārāt patravyapadeśasiddheḥ | na ca yad yato 'nyat tat tenopacārād upacāropacārāt vā vyapadeṣṭum aśakyaṃ śakrād anyatra vyavahartṛjane śakrābhiprāye sphuṭam upacāradarśanāt tato 'nyatrāpi kāṣṭādāv upacāropacārāt śakravyapadeśasiddheḥ | tad uktaṃ — 7mukhyaṃ śabdātmakaṃ vākyaṃ lipyām āropyate janaiḥ | patrasthatvāt tu tat patram upacāropacārataḥ || 8athavā prakṛtavākyasya mukhyata eva patravyapadeśa iti nigadāmaḥ | padāni trāyaṃte gopyaṃte rakṣyaṃte parebhyaḥ prativādibhyaḥ svayaṃ vijigīṣuṇā yasmin vākye tat patram iti patraśabdasya nirvacanasiddheḥ | tathā loke vyavaharttari śāstre ca guruparvakramāyāte pratīteḥ | na ca padāni viniścitapadasvarūpatadabhidheyatattvebhyaḥ parebhyas trātum aśakyāny eva kutaścid varṇaviparyāsanādeḥ prakṛtipratyayādigopanād vā tattrāṇasaṃbhavāt padagūḍhādikāvyavat | tad uktaṃ — 9trāyaṃte vā padāny asmin parebhyo vijigīṣuṇā | kutaścid iti patraṃ syāl loke śāstre ca rūḍhitaḥ || 10na caivamasādhupadāspadamapi vākyaṃ patramāsajyatesuspaṣṭapadameva vā sādhugūḍhapadaprāyamitivacanāttaduktaṃ — 11nacāsādhupadaṃ vākyaṃ praspaṣṭapadameva vā |sādhugūḍhapadaprāyamiti tasya viśeṣaṇāt || 12padapādādigūḍhakāvyamevaṃ patraṃ prāpnoti iti cennaprasiddhāvayavatvena viśiṣṭasya patratvavacanāt na hipadagūḍhādikāvyaṃ pramāṇasiddhapratijñādyavayavaviśeṣaṇatayākiṃcitprasiddhaṃ tasya tathā prasiddhaupatravyapadeśasiddheravādhitatvāttaduktaṃ — 13padagūḍhādikāvyaṃ ca naivaṃ patraṃ prasajyate |prasiddhāvayavatvena viśiṣṭasyābhidhānataḥ || 14svayamiṣṭasyārthasyāsādhakamapi tādṛgvākyaṃpatramevamāsaktamiti cenna sveṣṭārthasādhanasyaivehapatravicāre patratvavacanāt tadapyabhihitaṃ — 15sveṣṭhārthāsādhanasyāpi naivaṃ patratvamāpatet |sveṣṭārthasādhanasyaiva patratvavacanādiha || 16tato nākṣapādādīnāmekāṃtavādināṃpatravākyamasaṃbhavadarthakaṃ iti kecittadasatyathoktalakṣaṇasya patravākyasya teṣāṃvicāryamāṇasyāvyavasthiteḥ tathāhi — nākṣapādasyatāvadyathoktalakṣaṇaṃ patravākyaṃ saṃbhavati prasiddhāvayavatvasya virahātsugatādīnāmiva | tadavayavāhipratijñādayaḥ paṃcākṣapādenābhidhīyaṃtepratijñāhetūdāharaṇopanayanigamanānyavayavā itisūtrapraṇayanāt | tatrāgamaḥ pratijñā viśvataścakṣuritiviśvato mukho viśvato bāhuriti viśvataḥ pātsaṃbāhubhyāṃ dhamati saṃpatattrairdyāvābhūmī janayandevaeka iti yathā āgamārtho vā pratijñā vivādādhyāsitamupalabdhimatkāraṇakamiti | yathāheturanumānaṃ tena pratijñātārthasyānumīyamānatvāt kāryatvāditi | yathā udāharaṇaṃ pratyakṣaṃ vādiprativādinoryatrabuddhisāmyaṃ tadudāharaṇamiti vacanāt vastrādivaditi yathā upanayamupamānaṃ dṛṣṭāṃtaḥ dharmisādhyadharmiṇoḥ sādṛśyāt, "prasiddhasādharmyāt sādhyasādhanamupamānamiti" vacanāt yatkāryaṃ tadupalabdhimatkāraṇakaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ yathā vastrāditathā ca vivādādhyāsitamiti | yathāsarveṣāmekaviṣayatvapradarśanaphalaṃ nigamanaṃtasmādupalabdhimatkāraṇakamiti yathāāgamānumānapratyakṣopamānavat phalasamudāyarūpatvātpaṃcānāmavayavānāmiti vyākhyānāt | na caitepaṃcāvayavāḥ pramāṇato vicāryamāṇā vipaściccetasi suniścitāścakāsati, patravākyābhāse'pi saṃbhavāt teṣāṃpakṣadharmatvasapakṣesatvavipakṣāsatvamātrāṇāmivatrayāṇāmavayavānāṃ sugatasaṃmatānāṃ vītādīnāmivakapilavikalpitānāṃ tadabhāve'pi patravākyasya svārthasādhanasyadarśanāt sādhyāvinābhāvaniyamaniścayalakṣaṇādeva hetoḥsādhyaprasiddheḥ taduktaṃ — 17na caivaṃ lakṣaṇaṃ patramakṣapādasya yujyate |prasiddhāvayavatvasya virahātsugatādivat || patrasyāvayavāḥ paṃca pratijñādaya ityasat |patrābhāse'pi sadbhāvātteṣāṃ trairūpamātravat || tadabhāve'pi patrasya svārthasādhanatekṣaṇāt | hetoḥsādhyāvinābhāvaniyamātmakato yathā || satsatsaditisaṃkṣepātsādhyasādhanadarśanaṃ | vyāptyāḥsāmarthyataḥ sarvanāmābhāve'pi niścitaṃ || 18nanu ca yatkṛtakaṃ tadanityaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ yathā ghaṭa ityādausati sarvanāmaprayoge vyāptyā sādhyasādhanavacanamupalabdhaṃ na punarasati yataḥ satsadityatrasarvanāmaprayogābhāve'pi saṃkṣepatastatsiddhyetdharmiṇaścāvacanamihāyuktaṃ agniratradhūmādityādiṣudharmivacanadarśanāditi kaścit so'pyanālocitavacanapathaḥsāmarthyādgamyamānasya sarvanāmno prayogevirodhavaidhuryāt paṃcāvayavavādinaḥsādharmyāvayavavyākhyānādarthatogamyamānānāṃ vaidharmyāvayavānāmiva kvacidavaśyaṃ tatprayoge paṃcāvayavavacanenyūnatānuṣaṃgāt avayavavādināṃ bauddhānāṃ tryaṃśasya hetorbhāṣaṇāt sāmarthyato gamyamānānāṃ pratijñādīnāmivatatprayoge svayamasādhanāṃgavacanasya nigrahādhikaraṇasya tairabhidhānāt tata eva dharmiṇo'pyavacanamitisaṃkṣiptapatravākyena viruddhyate tasyaparīkṣādakṣairakṣūṇatayopalakṣitatvāttaduktaṃ — 19vaidharmyāvayavā yadvatpaṃcāvayavavādinaḥ |sādharmyāvayavākhyānādgamyaṃte'rthādabhāṣitāḥ || pratijñāyāśca keṣāṃciddhetostryaṃśasya bhāṣaṇāt |sāmarthyādgamyamānatvānna prayojyā yathaiva tu || tathā sāmarthyagamyatvātsarvanāmnopyabhāṣaṇaṃ |kvacidiṣṭaṃ parīkṣāyāṃ dakṣairddharmiṇa eva ca || 20nanvevaṃ kvacidapi pratijñādiprayoge na syādvādināṃyuktarūpobhavet tasya sāmarthyādgamyamānatvātsarvanāmavaditi na manīṣibhirmanasi nidheyaṃ teṣāṃpratipādyānurodhena prayogopagamāt yathaiva hikasyacitpratibodhyasyānurodhena sādhanavākyesaṃdhābhidhīyate dṛṣṭāṃtādikamapi na caivaṃsādhanasyaikalakṣaṇatvaṃ svayaṃ parīkṣitamapakṣipyate tato'nyāṃśānāṃ satāmapitallakṣaṇatvāpāyātsādhanābhāsepitatsaṃbhavādasādhāraṇatāvirahāt tathaiva hikumāranaṃdibhaṭṭārakairapi svavādanyāyenigaditatvāttadāha — 21pratipādyānurodhena prayogeṣu punaryathā | pratijñāprocyate tajjñaistathodāharaṇādikaṃ || na caivaṃ sādhanasyaikalakṣaṇatvaṃ virudhyate |hetulakṣaṇatāpāyādanyāṃśasya tathoditaṃ || anyathānupapattyekalakṣaṇaṃ liṃgamaṃgyate |prayogaparipāṭī tu pratipādyānurodhataḥ || 22nanu cātisaṃkṣiptapatravākye hetureva prayoktavyaḥtāvanmātrātsādhyamavaboddhuṃ samarthān narānprati sādhyābhidhānasya nirarthakatvāt prapaṃcatāratamyāt sādhyaṃniścetumīśān prati dvau cāvayavau prayoktavyau pakṣohetuśceti trayaścāvayavāḥ kāṃścana pratipakṣoheturdṛṣṭāṃtaśceti | catvāro vā taevāvayavāḥsopanayāḥ parānugrahapravaṇaiḥ sadbhiḥ prayoktavyāḥ | paṃca vā pratijñāhetūdāharaṇopanayanigamanabhedāt | anyathā tatpratipatterayogādityanye prāhuḥ tadāha — 23hetureva prayoktavyastāvanmātrātpravedituṃ |samarthānpratibodhyān nṝn sādhyaṃ saṃkṣepato nanu || dvau ca trayaśca catvāraḥ paṃca cāvayavāḥ pare |prayoktavyāḥ prapaṃcena sadbhirityapare viduḥ || 24te'pyevaṃ pṛṣṭavyāḥ hetustāvatkevalaḥ prayujyamānaḥkathaṃ prayujyata iti yadi prathamāṃtaḥ satsadityeva tadāsya kutaḥ sādhyatvavyavacchedaḥsādhyalakṣaṇavaikalyāt satsattvasya prasiddhatvātsādhyasyāprasiddhalakṣaṇatvāt kiṃ punaḥ satsadityucyateyatastatsakalajanaprasiddhaṃ sādhyavyavacchedenasādhanatvenaiva buddhyāmahe na punaḥ sādhyanirdeśatvena śaṃkāmahe satsaditi cet ime brūmahe sadanaṃsaditi pramā yato'trābhipretā sarvairgatyarthatvātgatyarthasya ca jñānārthatvātsarve gatyarthā jñānārthe varttaṃte itivacanātsatī vidyamānā sā yasmin tatsatsadvidyamānapramaṃprameyamiti yāvanna kasyacitpramāṇavādinaḥprameyamaprasiddhaṃ | saṃvitamātrapramāṇavādinaḥtadaprasiddhamiti na maṃtavyaṃ tasyāpi saṃvitsvarūpeprameyatvaprasiddheḥ svarūpasya svato gatiritisvayamabhidhānātsaṃvṛtyā tadabhidhāne paramārthataḥ svarūpādigativirodhātsaṃvidadvaitasiddherayogāt | yadipunarutpādādisvabhāvatvaṃ satvaṃ tadā tatsatsatsādhyamitiyuktaṃ vidyamānotpādādisvabhāvatvasya satsattvasyakeṣāṃcidaprasiddhatvāt sādhyalakṣaṇasaṃpratipatterityevaṃye bruvaṃte teṣāṃ satsadityukte satsatvasya prasiddhatayāsādhyavyavacchedasiddhāvapi sādhanasya dharmiṇo vyavacchedaḥsiddhyet tasyāpi prasiddhatvena saṃmatatvātprasiddhodharmīti vacanāt yadi punarviduṣāṃsādhyasiddhyarthaṃ dharmiṇo prayojyatvāttasya sādhyāvinābhāvābhāvādeva vyavacchedasiddhiriti mataṃtadā hetuḥ kevalaḥ kathaṃ teṣāṃ prayojyaḥ syāt sveṣṭasiddhyarthaṃ sādhyasyānabhidhāne tenatasyāvinābhāvāprasiddheḥ | prastāvādgamyamānenasādhyenānuktenāpi hetoravinābhāvastāvadvidbhiravadhāryate iti cet nacaitatparīkṣākṣamaṃprastāvasyeṣṭāniṣṭayorarthayoraviśeṣātkatarasminnarthehetuḥ prayuktoyamiti jñātumaśakteḥ kimanityaḥ śabdo nityovetyubhayāṃśāvalaṃvini śaṃsaye sati hetuprayogasyeṣṭatvāt"saṃdigdhe'rthe hetuvacanāditi" kaiścitsvayamabhidhānāt | athayadaikamukhaeva prastāvastryātmakaṃ jagat kathametaditikasyacitpraśne tadā hetustatraivāyamiti jñātuṃ śakyatvātprastāvādgamyamānena sādhyena hetoravinābhāvaḥ siddhyatyevetyapi na saṃgataṃ pṛṣṭaviparītārthehetorvacanasadbhāvadarśanāt atryātmakamidaṃ sarvamitisvayamabhīpsatāṃ tatraiva hetuprayogopapatteḥ yadipunastatra prayuktasya hetorviruddhatvaniścayāt tathā catryātmakasyaiva siddheratryātmakatvasya sādhyatvāyogātna tena hetoravinābhāvasiddhiriti mataṃ tadā tryātmakatvasyāpikutaḥ sādhyatvaṃ, prasiddhasya sādhyatvavirodhātsādhanavat | kasyaciddhetoratryātmakatve sādhyeviruddhatāmavabuddhyamānasya sāmarthyāt tryātmakatvesādhye samyagdhetutvanirṇayaghaṭanāttattryātmakaprasiddhatvopapatteḥ yo hyanagnau sādhyedhūmavattvasya hetorviruddhatāmavabudhyate sa tasyāgnausādhye samyagdhetutvamapi budhyata eva | na caivaṃbudhyamānasya pratipādyatā ghaṭate pratipādakavat tatona taṃ prati hetuḥ kevalaḥ prayoktavyaḥ syāt | atha yatpṛṣṭaṃpratipādyena tatra heturyadācāryeṇa prayujyate tadātasya tenāvinābhāvāvagatirbhavatyeveti mataṃ tadapi nasamīcīnaṃ sādhyanirddeśasyaiva samāgateḥpratipādyakṛtapraśnaviśeṣasyānyathā tatrānupapatteḥutpādādyātmakaṃ sarvaṃ kuta etaditi praśne prameyatvāditi hetorvacane'pi saṃbaṃdhātsādhyanirddeśaprasiddheḥekanirddeṣṭuriva bhinnanirddeṣṭurapi tasya tenasaṃbaṃdhāviśeṣāt yathaiva hyekasya vaktuḥsādhyanirdeśānaṃtaraṃ sādhanasya nirdeśe tasyatenāvinābhāvasaṃbaṃdhasādhyasiddheḥ sādhyavyāptasādhanopadarśanaṃ sphuṭamavasīyate tathā pratipādyenasādhyapraśnavacane kṛte pratipādakena sādhanāmidhāne'pi bhinnavaktṛnirdiṣṭayorapisādhyasādhanayoravinābhāvāvirodhātkathamanyathaikavākyasya nānāvaktṛbhirudīryamāṇasya saṃbadhatā siddhyet tataḥ sarveṣāṃ vādināṃ avigānenasiddhaṃ saṃkṣepataḥ sādhyasādhananirdeśamātraṃ na punaḥ kevalaṃ hetuvacanaṃ viduṣāmapi tadayogāt kiṃvat sarveṣāṃ vādināṃavigānena saṃkṣepataḥ sādhyasādhanadarśanaṃ prasiddhamiticeducyate śrīmadakalaṃkadevasya, pratyakṣaṃ viśadaṃ jñānaṃpramāṇamityādivat | dharmakīrteḥ pratyakṣaṃ kalpanāpoḍhamabhrāṃtamityādivat | yogasyasadakāraṇavannityamityādivat | sāṃkhyasya caitanyaṃpuruṣasya svarūpamityādivat satsatsaditipatravākyamanākulameva saṃbhāvayāmaḥsvasādhyārthāvinābhāvisādhanasyābhidhānāt yathaiva hiviśadajñānātmakatvamaṃtareṇa pratyakṣamanupapannaṃjñānātmakatvena ca vinā pramāṇatvaṃ keṣāṃcitpareṣāṃkalpanāpoḍhābhrāṃtābhyāṃ vinā pratyakṣatvaṃ anyeṣāṃnityatvādṛte sadakāraṇavatvamitareṣāṃ puruṣasvarūpābhāvecaitanyaṃ tathotpādāditrayātmakatvalakṣaṇasatvamaṃtareṇa satsatvākhyāprameyatāpi nopapadyata eva pramāṇabalataḥ prasiddhāyāstasyāḥanyatra kvacitsadbhirniścayāt | ātmādidravyamutpādavyayanirmuktaṃ prameyaṃ siddhaṃparyāyaśca dhrauvyanirmuktaḥ prameyo'stīti cāyuktaṃdravyaparyāyayorbhedābhedaikāṃte'navasthānāt tathācaitatsakalamabhyadhāyi | 25te'pi prayuṃjate hetuṃ satsatvaṃ yadi kevalaṃ | satsadityeva sādhyatvavyavacchedo'sya tatkṛtaḥ || sādhyalakṣaṇavaikalyātsatyatvasya prasiddhitaḥ | sadanaṃsatpramā hyatra satī sā yatra tanmataṃ || satsatprameyametacca prasiddhaṃ mānavādinaḥ | saṃvinmātre'pi mānasya svarūpesti prameyatā || utpādādisvabhāvatvaṃ sattvaṃ sādhyaṃ tu yujyate | tasyāprasiddhitaḥ sādhyalakṣaṇaṃ pratipattitaḥ || evamācakṣate ye'pi teṣāṃ syāddharmiṇaḥ kutaḥ | sādhanasyavyavacchedaḥ prasiddhatvena saṃmatāt || viduṣāmaprayojyatvāddharmiṇaḥ sādhyasiddhaye | tasyasādhyāvinābhāvābhāvādeveti tanmataṃ || hetuḥ kathaṃ prayojyaḥ syātkevalaḥ sveṣṭasiddhaye | sādhyasyāvacane tenāvinābhāvāprasiddhitaḥ || prastāvādgamyamānena hetoḥ sādhyena buddhyate | vidvadbhiravinābhāvo'nuktenāpīti cenna vai || prastāvasyārthayoriṣṭāniṣṭayoraviśeṣataḥ | kvārthe hetuḥprayukto'yamiti jñātumaśaktitaḥ || yadyekamukhaeva syāt prastāvastryātmakaṃ jagat | kathametaditi praśne tadā hetuḥ sa tatra cet || na pṛṣṭaviparītārthe hetorvacanasaṃbhavāt | atryātmakamidaṃ viśvāmiti svayamabhīpsatāṃ || tatra hetorviruddhatvaniścayātsādhyatā na cet | tathātryātmakaṃ siddhestasya syātsādhyatā kutaḥ || yo hyagnau viruddhatvaṃ dhūmavattvasya budhyate | so'gnausādhye kathaṃ tasya na vidyātsatyahetutāṃ || na caivaṃ budhyamānasya ghaṭate pratipādyatā | pratipādakavadyena hetustaṃ prati kevalaḥ || yatpṛṣṭaṃ pratipādyena tatra hetuḥ prayujyate | yadācāryeṇa tenāsyāvinābhāvagatistathā || bhavatyeveti cetsādhye nirddeśopyevamāgataḥ | pratipādakṛtaḥ praśnaviśeṣaḥ kvānyathāsya sa || utpādādyātmakaṃ viśvaṃ kuta etaddhi niścitaṃ | iti praśneprameyatvāditi hetorvacasyapi || prasiddhaḥ sādhyanirdeśaḥ saṃbaṃdhādupavarṇitaḥ | etenaivaikanirdeṣṭuriva bhinnādapi sphuṭaṃ || tataḥ saṃkṣepataḥsiddhaḥ sarveṣāmavigānataḥ | sādhyasādhananirdeśamātrakaṃ na tu hetuvāk || pratyakṣaṃ viśadaṃ jñānaṃ pramāṇaṃ jñānamityapi | akalaṃkavacoyadvatsādhyasādhanasūcakaṃ || pratyakṣaṃ kalpanāpoḍhamabhrāṃtamiti kīrtivāk | sadakāraṇavannityamiti yogavaco'pi ca || caitanyaṃ puruṣasya syātsvarūpamiti sāṃkhyavāk | evamādiparairiṣṭaṃ sveṣṭasiddhinibaṃdhanaṃ || satsatsaditi tadvatsyātpatravākyamanākulaṃ |svasādhyarthāvinābhāvisādhanasyābhidhānataḥ || utpādāditrayātmatvamaṃtareṇa prameyatā | na hikvacitprasiddhāsti pramāṇavalataḥ satāṃ || notpādavyayanirmuktamātmādidravyamasti naḥ | prameyaṃnāpi paryāyo dhrauvyamukto'sti kaścana || dravyaparyāyayorbhedābhedaikāṃte'navasthiteḥ | śrīmatsamaṃtabhadrāryaiyuktividbhistathoktitaḥ || dravyaparyāyayoraikyaṃ tayoravyatirekataḥ | pariṇāmaviśeṣācca śāktimacchaktibhāvataḥ || saṃjñāsaṃkhyāviśeṣācca svalakṣaṇaviśeṣataḥ | prayojanādibhedācca tannānātvaṃ na sarvathā || 26tatra dravyaṃ tāvadanvayitadevedamityavādhitapratyabhijñāsamadhigamyaṃ paryāyovyāvṛtākārasvabhāvaḥ sa bhedapratyayasamadhigamyaḥkathaṃcittayoraikyamavyatirekāt yayostu naikyaṃ natayoravyatirekaḥ yathā himavadviṃdhyayoravyatirekaścadravyaparyāyayostasmāttayoraikyamiti kevalavyatirekī hetuḥnanu caikyamavyatireka eva sa eva hetuḥ kathamupapannaḥsyātsādhyasamatvāditi na maṃtavyaṃ kathaṃcittādātmyasyaikyasyasādhyatvāt parasparamaśakyavivecanatvasyāvyatirekasyasādhanatvāt tasyā sādhyasamatvābhāvāt parasparaṃvyatirecanaṃvyatirekaḥ, tadabhāvastvavyatirekaḥ sacaśakyavivecanameveti kathaṃ sādhyasamatvaṃ nacaivamasiddhohetuḥ kasyacijjīvādidravyasya svaparyāyebhyo jñānādibhyaḥ paradravyaparyāyāṃtarāṇi svaparyāyāṇāṃca jñānādīnāṃdravyāṃtaraṃ netumaśakyatvasyaparasparamaśakyavivecanatvasya dravyaparyāyayoḥsuprasiddhatvāt anyathā jñānādiparyāyāṇāṃ jīvaparyāyatvāyogātjīvādidravyatvasya ca taddravyatvavirodhāt nanu satyapidravye tatparyāyāṇāmutpādāt utpannānāṃ ca vināśātkathamaśakyavivecanatvaṃ siddhamiti tu na śaṃkanīyaṃparyāyāṇāmutpādavināśābhāve paryāyatvāyogātteṣāmutpādavyayalakṣaṇatvāt dravyasyadhrauvyalakṣaṇatvavat || 27samudeti vilayamṛcchati bhāvo niyamena paryayanayasyanodeti no vinaśyati sattāsaṃbaṃdhaḥ kasmānna bhavati, tataḥsatvaṃ cetyākṣepaḥ tasya sattāsaṃbaṃdhāsaṃbhavāt iti sa evaparihāraḥ kathamajaḍairabhidhīyate sādhyameva ca sādhanaṃkutastasya sattāsaṃbaṃdhābhāvaḥ sattāsaṃbaṃdhābhāvāditi kutaḥsattāsaṃbaṃdhalakṣaṇasatvābhāvaḥ sattāsaṃbaṃdhābhāvāditivā yadiḥ punaḥ prāgasatvādaviśeṣe'pi ghaṭapaṭayorevasattāsaṃbaṃdhaḥ tannimittaṃ ca sattvaṃ tathā pratīteḥ na punaḥ yuktavādīpūrvāparasvabhāvatyāgopādānānvitasthitilakṣaṇasya pariṇāmaviśeṣasya pramāṇataḥ siddhatvāt | tathā hi sarvaṃ vastuyathoktapariṇāmaviśeṣabhāk satvāt sarvathāpyapariṇāmini saugatādīṣṭapariṇāmena pariṇāmini ca satvavirodhāttadvirodhaśca arthakriyāvyāghātāt tadvyāghātaśca kramayaugapadyāsambhavāt tadasaṃbhavaścaniranvayavinaśvaraniraṃśaikāṃte deśakālakṛtakramasyanānākāryakaraṇaśaktinānātvanibaṃdhanayaugapadyasya cavirodhāt sarvathā sadātmakakūṭasthavatparasparato'tyaṃtabhinnadharmadharmimātravacca nahyatra deśakṛtaḥ kramaḥ pipīlikādivat nāpi kālakṛto vābījāṃkurādivat saṃbhavatyekasyānekadeśakālavartinora nabhyupagamāt yo yatraiva sa tatraiva yo yadaiva tadaivasaḥ "na deśakālayorvyāptirbhāvānāmiha vidyate" itivacanāt nanu ca kṣaṇikaikasvalakṣaṇāpekṣayā deśakālavyāptyabhāvātbhāvānāṃ mābhūt deśakālakṛtaḥ kramaḥ sakṛdekasyānekasvabhāvāpekṣayā yaugapadyavat saṃtānāpekṣayā tusyāt tasyānekasahakārikālāpāpekṣayā anekakāryakaraṇayaugapadyavat iti cenna saṃtānasamudāyayorevakramayaugapadyābhyāmarthakriyākāritvāt vastutvasiddhiprasaṃgātsvalakṣaṇasyāvastutāpatteḥ | syādākūtaṃyadanvayavyatirekānuvidhānātkramaśaḥkāryotpattistatsvalakṣaṇaṃ kramaśaḥ kāryakāri yathākasyacijjāgradvijñānaṃ kramaśaḥsvapnajñānaprabodhajñānādikāraṇaṃ kiṃcittuyugapatkāryakāri yadanvayavyatirekābhyāṃ yaugapadyenakāryotpattiḥ yathā pradīpasvalakṣaṇaṃtailaśoṣaṇāṃdhakārāpanayaṃkāraṇaṃ | nacaivamekasyānekasvabhāvāpattistasyatādṛśaikasvabhāvatvāt iti tadasat kūṭasthasyāpyevaṃkramākramakāryakāritvopapatteḥ śakyaṃ hi vaktuṃ śāśvatikobhāvaḥ svānvayavyatirekābhyāṃ krameṇākrameṇa vānekaṃ kāryaṃprādurbhāvayan tathā tannimittaṃ | nacānekasvabhāvatvaṃtasya tathāvidhaikasvabhāvatvāt || nityasya kathaṃvyatireka iti cet kṣaṇikasya kathaṃ | sakalakālakalāvyāpteriti cet | nityasyāpisakaladeśāvyāptervyatireko'stu | nanunityādbhinnakāryasyotpattau deśavyatirekasyāpi na saṃbhavaḥ tadanutpattau tutaddeśasyaiva kāryasya sarvadotpatteḥ pratītivirodha iti cettarhi kṣaṇikādbhinnakālasya kāryotpādevyatirekābhāvastadabhāvaeva tadbhāvāt, tadabhinnakālasyotpāde kāryatvavirodhaḥ samasamayavartitvātsvātmavat | kṣaṇikalakṣaṇe svakālesati bhavataḥ kālāṃtare'pi kāryasyānvayavat tadā tasminnasatyabhavato vyatirekaḥ siddhyatīti cet tarhi nitye'pisvadeśe sati deśāṃtare'pi bhavataḥ kāryasyānvayavat tatrāpyasati tasyābhavato vyatirekaḥ siddhyet | nacaivamanabhimatadeśasyāpi kāryasya janma prasajyatenityavādinaḥ kṣaṇikavādino'pi tadanabhimatakālasyajanmaprasaṃgāt | tataḥ svayogyabhinnakālasyotpattau nityādapisvayogyabhinnadeśasyotpatteralaṃ prabaṃdhena sarvathākṣaṇiketaravādinoḥ parasparamanatiśayāt kṣaṇikaikāṃtasyatasyānyatra prapaṃcato nirākaraṇācca napūrvāparasvabhāvavināśotpādamātreṇa pariṇāmena pariṇāmisarvaṃ vastu nāpyāvinābhāvamātreṇa nityaikāntetadanupapatteḥ kūṭasthasyāvirbhāvatirobhāvotpattautadavasthāvirodhāt anityatānuṣaṃgāt tadavasthayostadupapattau tatastayorbhedakalpānatikramātbhede nityasyāvastheti vyapadeśasiddhiḥ saṃbaṃdhābhāvāt | avasthāvasthāvadbhāvaeva saṃbaṃdhaiticet na tasyabhedaikāṃte sahyaviṃdhyavadaghaṭanāt | etena dravyasyabhinnena guṇādinā pariṇāmena pariṇāmitvaṃ pratyākhyātaṃguṇādidravyayoḥ samavāyasyāpi bhedaikāṃtetadvadanupapatteraviśeṣāt | deśābhedāttayoḥ saṃbaṃdha iticenna vātātapayorātmākāśayorvā tatprasaṃgātkālabhedādubhayābhedācca sa tayorityasyāpyanenāpāstaṃ | tayoraviśvagbhāvādupapannaḥ saṃbaṃdhaḥ iti cet sa yadideśakālābheda eva tadā saeva doṣaḥ tatonyaścetsvabhāvābhedaḥ, pratibhāsābhedo, vyapadeśābhedo, vā natāvatsvabhāvābhedaḥ saṃbhavati dravyasya guṇādeścabhinnasvabhāvatvopagamāt | pratibhāsavyapadeśābhedo'pi nayuktaḥ, tasyāsiddhatvāt | kathaṃcidekadravyatādātmyamaviśvagbhāva iti cet syādvādamatasiddhiḥsaivāstu gatyaṃtarābhāvāt iti yathoktapariṇāmenaiva pariṇāmitvaṃ sattvasya vyāpakaṃ siddhaṃ tatastasyaiva sādhanamitisiddhaḥ pariṇāmaviśeṣo hetuḥ dravyaparyāyayoḥ kathaṃcidaikyaṃ sādhayati | yathaiva hi dravyasya dravyarūpatayā sthitiḥ, pūrvāparaparyāyarūpatayā tu nāśotpādau pariṇāmaviśeṣastathā paryāyasyāpi svarūpeṇātmalābho vināśaśca dravyarūpatayā tusthitiriti tallakṣaṇaḥ pariṇāmaviśeṣo'styeva | tathādravyaparyāyayoḥ kathaṃcidaikyaṃ śaktimacchaktibhāvāt yayostunaikyaṃ na tayoḥ śaktimacchaktibhāvaḥ yathā sahyavindhyayoḥśaktimacchaktibhāvaśca dravyaparyāyayoriti vyatirekīheturanyathānupapattilakṣaṇaḥ sādhyaṃ sādhayati | śaktimaddhi dravyaṃ śaktayaḥ paryāyāḥ pratītāeva tadbhāvaḥśaktimacchaktibhāvaḥ siddhonyathānupapattyātmako hetuḥ | nacānyathānupapattirasiddhā kathaṃcidaikyamaṃtareṇadravyaparyāyayorbhedaikāṃte tadabhedaikāṃte caśaktimacchaktibhāvasyāsaṃbhavāt | aśakyavivecanalakṣaṇapariṇāmaviśeṣavat | tathādravyaparyāyayoḥ kathaṃcinnānātvaṃ saṃjñāsaṃkhyālakṣaṇaprayojanapratibhāsabhedātkuṭapaṭavatśakrapuraṃdarādisaṃjñābhedena kalatraṃ dārāityādisaṃkhyābhedena jñānādisvalakṣaṇabhedenatāpodyotādiprayojanabhedena spaṣṭāspaṣṭādipratibhāsabhedenaca vyabhicārī heturiticenna tasyāpi kathaṃcidbhedamaṃtareṇānupapadyamānatvātsarvasyaikānekasvabhāvatābiniścayātsaṃjñeyasaṃkhyeyasvalakṣyaprayojyapratibhāsya svabhāvabhedārpaṇāyāmevasaṃjñādibhedavyavahārasiddheranyathātiprasaṃgāttato'navadyaṃ dravyaparyāyayoḥ kathaṃcidbhedasādhanaṃ kathaṃcidaikyasādhanavat nacaivaṃvirodhavaiyadhikaraṇyādidūṣaṇaṃ, pramāṇasiddhayoḥkathaṃcidbhedābhedayostadagocaratvāt kvacitsarvathābhedābhedayoreva virodhādiviṣayatayāvasāyāt | nanu cadravyaparyāyayoryamātmānamāśritya bhedo yaṃcāśrityābhedastau yadi tato bhinnau tadā bhedaeva na hibhinnādabhinnamabhinnaṃnāmanānābhājanasthakṣīrādabhinnakṣīrāṃtaravat athābhinnau tathāpi na bhedaḥ taduktaṃ — 29yāvātmānau samāśritya bhedābhedaudvayostayoḥ | tāvabhinnau tataḥ syātāṃ yadi bhedastadā na kim || kiṃ bhinnau yadi tau bhedaḥ sarvathākena vāryate | bhinnādabhinnayorbhedā bhinnārthādabhedavat || 30iti sa evamapyupālaṃbho vastuni na bhavatyevasvamithyāvikalpayoreva tatsaṃbhavāt vastuno dravyaparyāyātmanorjātyaṃtarasya tadaṃśayordravyaparyāyayoḥkathaṃcidbhedābhedātmanoḥ pratītisiddhatvāt naca tathāpratītiḥ mithyā, bādhakasya tadviparītagrāhiṇaḥ pramāṇasyakasyacidapyasaṃbhavāt tatrānavasthāderanavatārāt tathā hidravyaparyāyayoryamātmānaṃ dravyasvabhāvamāśrityābhedaḥsyādvādināṃ saṃmataḥ sa evābhedo na punaranyotrāyaṃparyāyamātmānamāśritya tayorbhedo vyavahriyate saevaparyāyātmā bhedaḥ tatonāpara ityāhuranekāṃtavādinaḥ tatonaivābhedaikāṃtaḥ prasajyate bhedaikāṃto vā tathābhyadhāyiityevamapyupālaṃbho na saṃbhavati vastuni tathāpratītisiddhatvādvādhakasyāpyasaṃbhavāt | 31dravyaparyāyoścātra bhedaḥsyādvādināṃ mataḥ | dravyātmānaṃ yamāśritya sa evābhedaityapi || paryāyātmānamāśritya paṃcabhedaḥprakīrtyate | sa eva bheda ityāhustattadekāṃtatā kutaḥ || 32iti tata eva ca pratītisiddhatvādbādhakābhāvādapiśītoṣṇasparśavat dravyaparyāyorvirodho dhvastaḥ syāt tadvadvaiyadhikaraṇyaṃ ca dhvastaṃ syāt tata evānavasthādhvastā syāt dravyarūpeṇābhedasyaiva paryāyarūpeṇa bhedasyaivobhayasvabhāve vastuni vyavasthitatvātsunayārpitaikāṃtāvadhāraṇasyāpi anekāṃtāpratighātatvāt | nanu ca pramāṇārpaṇādanekāṃtaevanayāryaṇāccaikāṃtaevetyapyekāṃtaeva prasakta iti cennatasyāpyaparanayapramāṇaviṣayatāyāmekāṃtātmakatvātavyavasthitānekāṃtopagamāt ākāṃkṣākṣayādevavyavasthānasiddheranavasthādoṣābhāvāt | saṃkaraścadhvastaḥ syāt tayoryugapatprāptyabhāvāt | vyatirekaścaparasparaviṣayagamanābhāvāt | pratiniyatasvarūpatvātsaṃśītirapi dhvastā | tathānayornayapramāṇābhyāṃ suniścitatvāttathaivāpratipattirabhāvaśca dhvastaḥ syāt yaugābhimatasāmānyaviśeṣavat citrādvaitavādinaścitravedanavat, sāṃkhyasya satvarajastamomayaikapradhānavatcitrapaṭavaccāpareṣāṃ naikasyānekatvaṃ virodhaṃ bhajatenāpi vaiyadhikaraṇyādidoṣamiti pratipattavyaṃ | taduktaṃ — 33tata eva virodho'travibhinnāśrayatāpi vā | anavasthādyapi dhvastaṃsyātsāmānyavirodhavat || citravedanavaccāpisatvādyātmapradhānavat | citravastravadekasyānekatvaṃ navirodhabhāk || iti34evaṃ ca na satsattvalakṣaṇaṃ prameyatvaṃ nityaikāṃtādiṣukvacidapi sarvathaikāṃte saṃbhavati pramāṇeneva nayairapi jātyaṃtarasyānekāṃtātmano vastunaḥ pravedanāt | nityatvādyekāṃtapravedanetatpratipakṣā'nityatvādidharmāṇāmanirākaraṇāttatra teṣāmapi guṇībhūtānāṃ sadbhāvāt etāvataiva vipakṣevyāvṛttiniścayena hetoḥ prakṛtasyānyathānupapannatāpradhānalakṣaṇabhūtā siddhā | tato yuktaṃsādhyasādhanavacanaṃ saṃkṣepataḥ patravākye kevalasyahetorati saṃkṣepato prayogāprayogāt, sarvathāvicārāsahatvāt, sādhyanirdeśasahitasyaiva hetoḥprayogārhatvasamarthanāt, taduktaṃ35tathā ca na prameyatvaṃdhrauvyaikāṃtādiṣu kvacit | nayairapi guṇībhūtānekāṃtasyapravedanāt || siddhā caitāvatāhetoranyathānupapannatā | pradhānalakṣaṇaṃ yuktāsādhyasādhanabāk tataḥ || iti36viśeṣāśrayaṇātkasya kasyāvayavasya vacanaṃ patreprayogayogyamiti udāhriyate | 37sādhyadharmaviśiṣṭasya dharmiṇaḥsādhanasya ca | vacaḥ prayujyate patre viśeṣāśrayato yathā || svāṃtabhāsitabhūtyādyatryaṃtātmatadubhāṃtabhāk | parāṃtadyotitoddīptamitītaḥ svātmakatvataḥ || iti38aṃta eva hyāṃtaḥ svārthike'ṇi bhavati vānaprasthādivatprādipāṭhāyekṣayā sorāṃtaḥ svāṃtaḥ — ut tena bhāsitādyotitā bhūtirudbhūtirityarthaḥ sā ādyā yeṣāṃ tesvāṃtabhāsitabhūtyādyāsteca te aṃtāśca te udrūtivināśadhrauvyadharmā ityarthaḥ, ta evātmānaḥ tān tanotiiti svāṃtabhāsitabhūtyādyatryaṃtātmataditi sādhyadharmaḥubhāṃtā vāk yasya tadubhāṃtabhāk viśvamiti dharmo tasyasādhyadharmaviśiṣṭasya nirdeśaḥ utpādāditrisvabhāvavyāpisarvamiti yāvat | parāṃto yasyeti parāṃtaḥ praḥsaeva dyotitaṃdyotanamupasarga ityarthaḥ tenoddīptā sā cāsau mitiścatāmitaḥ svātmā yasya tatparāṃtādyetitoddīptamitīḥ tatsvātmakaṃpramitiḥ prāptasvarūpamiti yāvat tasya bhāvastattvaṃprameyatvaṃ tasmāttataḥ prameyatvāt ityarthaḥ pramāṇaviṣayasyaprameyatvāditi etasya sādhanasya cānyathānupapannatvaniyamaniścayalakṣaṇasyoktanyāyenasamarpitasya vacanaṃ yatreti viśeṣāśrayeṇa prayujyate, dṛṣṭāṃtopadarśanābhāve'pihetorgamakatvasamarthanāt | tathā trayaścatvāraḥ paṃca ṣaḍādayovā patravākye'vayavāḥsyuḥ niyamasyāvyavasthānādityetadabhidhīyate | 39citrādyadaṃtarāṇīyamārekāṃtātmakatvataḥ |yaditthaṃ na taditthaṃ na yathā kiṃciditi trayaḥ || tathācedamiti proktāścatvāro'vayavāmatāḥ | tasmāttatheti nirdeśe paṃca patrasya kasyacit || ṣaḍādayo'pi caivaṃsyurniyamasyāvyavasthiteḥ | sādharmyetaradṛṣṭāṃtābhidhāne cayathā kvacit || 40citramekānekarūpaṃ tadatatīticitrātekānekarūpavyāpyanekātātmakamityarthaḥ sarvaviśvayadityādisarvanāmapāṭhāpekṣayā yadaṃto viśvaśabdaḥ | yadaṃtosyetiyadaṃta itivṛtteḥ, yadaṃtena rāṇīyaṃ śabdanīyaṃ viśvamityarthaḥ tadanenānekāṃtātmakaṃ viśvamiti pakṣanirdeśaḥ kṛtaḥ, ārekāsaṃśayaḥ sāṃtosyetyārekāṃtaḥ prameyaḥ pramāṇaprameyasaṃśayetyādipāṭhāpekṣayā sa ātmā svabhāvo yasyatadārekāṃtātmakaṃ tasya bhāvastattvaṃ tasmāditisādhanadharmanirdeśaḥ yaditthaṃ na bhavati yaccitrānnabhavati taditthaṃ na bhavati ārekāṃtātmakaṃ na bhavati yathākiṃcinna kiṃcit yathācākiṃcit sarvathaikāṃtātmakaṃtattvaṃ parābhyupagatamiti trayo'vayavāḥ patre prayujyaṃtetathā cedaṃ prameyātmakaṃ cedaṃ viśvamitipakṣadharmopasaṃhāravacane catvarovayavāḥ prayoge'mīdṛṣṭāḥ tasmāttathānekāṃtavyāpīti nirdeśe paṃcāvayavāḥ | patravākyasya kasyacit ṣaḍādayopi caivaṃpratipādyāḥ pratipādyāśayavaśāt syuḥ teṣāmiyattayācāvadhāraṇasyābhāvāt tanna sādharmyadṛṣṭāṃtasyavaidharmyadṛṣṭāṃtasya ca gamyamānasyāpi vacaneṣaḍavayavāḥ syuḥ | yathānityaḥ śabdaḥ kṛtakatvātyatkṛtakaṃ tadanityaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ yathā ghaṭaḥ yatpunarnityaṃtadakṛtakaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ yathākāśaṃ kṛtakaśca śabdaḥtasmādanitya iti atraiva sādharmyopanaye vaidharmyopanaye cakṛtakaḥ śabdaḥ, akṛtakastu na bhavatīti prayujyamānesaptāvayavāḥ syuḥ tasmādanityo nityastu na bhavati itinigamanavacane'ṣṭau, anityaḥ śabdo na tu nityaḥ, itipratijñādvayavacane navāvayavāḥ syuḥkṛtakatvādakṛtakatvābhāvāditi hetuprayoge daśāpi śrūyaṃte gamyamānāvayavaprayoge punaruktadoṣābhāvāt, pratijñādyavayavaprayogavat pakṣadharmopasaṃhāravadvādurāśaṃkāvyavacchedasya phalasya sadbhāvāviśeṣāt, sarvatra niṣphalatvāyogāt, tathāvidhapratipādyāśayaviśeṣasaṃbhavācca, yataścaivaṃ tasmātsādhyāvinābhūtasya sādhanasyopadarśanaṃ pramāṇasiddhaṃtadabhāve sādhyaprasiddheḥ, paṃcāvayavādyupadarśanaṃ tu pareṣāṃ na pramāṇasiddhaṃbodhyānurodhamātrādetadupadarśanāt evaṃ ca naikāṃtavādināṃprasiddhāvayavaṃ vākyaṃ saṃbhavati yat patrākhyāṃ labhetataduktaṃ — 41tataḥsādhyāvinābhūtasādhanasyopadarśanaṃ |pramāṇāsiddhametasyābhāve sādhyāprasiddhitaḥ || bodhyānurodhamātrāttuśeṣāvayavadarśanāt | pareṣāṃ na pramāṇena prasiddhāvayavaṃvaca iti || 42kiṃca yanmate varṇā api na vyavatiṣṭhaṃte padānyapi catasya vākyaṃ kutaḥ pramāṇāt siddhyet yat patralakṣaṇenayathoktena samanvitaṃ syāt | nanu yaugānāṃ varṇādayovyavatiṣṭhaṃta eva ākāśaguṇatvena śabdānāmabhyupagamāt tadbādhakābhāvāditi na saṃbhāvyaṃ tathābādhakasadbhāvāt kiṃ tāvadbādhaka iti ceducyate nākāśaguṇaḥ śabdaḥ bāhyeṃdriyajñānajñānaviṣayatvātya evaṃ saevaṃ yathā sparśa tathā ca śabdastasmānnākāśaguṇaḥ śabdaḥ iti nānyathānupapattiśūnyaṃ sādhanaṃ | gaganaguṇatve śabdasya tadanupapatteḥ paramaṃmahatvādivat | ghaṭākāśasaṃyogādinā vyabhicārīdaṃ sādhanamiti cennabāhyeṃdriyajñānaviṣayatvāsiddheḥ atīṃdriyayorivātīṃdviyeṃdriyakayorapi saṃyogasya vibhāgādeśca vātadaghaṭanāt, anyathātiprasaṃgāt taduktaṃ — 43varṇā na vyavatiṣṭhaṃte padānyapi cayanmate | tasya vākyaṃ kutaḥ siddhyet yatpatraṃ lakṣaṇānvitaṃ || na śabdaḥ khaguṇobāhyakaraṇajñānagatvataḥ | sparśavat khaguṇasyaivaṃpramāṇavyāhatatvataḥ || iti44na ca mīmāṃsakasyāpi sarvagatāmūrtadravyanityaikātmakovarṇo yujyate tasya bāhyendriyagrāhyasvabhāvatvāt ghaṭādivat | nākāśena hetorvyabhicāraḥ tasyabāhyeṃdriyāgrāhyasvabhāvatvāt kālādivatśuṣirasyāpyākāśasyānumeyatvāt tatramūrtadravyasyābhāve kasyacidamūrtadravyasya siddheḥtucchasyābhāvasyāghaṭanāt, nirāśrayasya guṇāderanupapatteḥ pariśeṣādākāśasya sādhanāt | śubhramākāśaṃśyāmalaṃ cedamiti pratyayāccakṣurgrāhyamākāśamiti cennaālokāṃdhakārayorākāśatvopacārāt tathā pratyayasya bhāvān tatraghanadravyābhāve'sya tadupacārahetutvāttayorevākāśadravyatvopagame svamatavirodhāt nacānyatkiṃcitsarvagatāmūrtanityaikātmakaṃ dravyaṃbāhyeṃdriyagrāhyasvabhāvaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ yena vyabhicārīdaṃsādhanaṃ syāt tataḥ paṭavanna tathā śabdaḥ | taduktaṃ — 45na casarvagatāmūrtanityaikātmātra yujyate | varṇobāhyeṃdriyagrāhyasvabhāvatvād ghaṭādivat || iti46varṇavyatiriktaṃ padaṃ vākyaṃ vā sphoṭākhyamityapi nasaṃbhavati grāhakābhāvāt arthapratipattyanyathānupapattigrāhiketi cenna tasyāstattvataḥkathaṃcidvarṇātmakapadavākyahetutvopapatteḥparopagatasphoṭasyānabhivyaktasyārthapratipattihetutvavirodhāt, varṇaistadabhivyakterapipratyekamayogāt, varṇāṃtaroccāraṇavaiyarthyāt, paunaḥpunyenavākyārtha bodhanānuṣaṃgāt samuditairapitadabhivyakterasaṃbhavāt, varṇānāṃ samudāyāghaṭanāt, pūrvavarṇaśravaṇāhitasaṃskārasya pratipatturaṃtyavarṇaśravaṇānaṃtaraṃ tadabhivyaktautathārthapratipattereva siddheḥ sphoṭaparikalpanā vaiyarthyāt, pratītyatilaṃghanācca kramaviśiṣṭavarṇaviśeṣebhyaevārthapratītisadbhāvāt teṣāmeva padavākyarūpatvopapatteḥ | nacāgamamātrāt padavākyasphoṭapratipattistasyapramāṇyasiddheḥ | na cānyadgrāhakamasti yatastadvyavasthātatvataḥ syāt taduktaṃ — 47narte varṇātpadaṃ nāma naca vākyaṃpadādṛte | sphoṭākhyaṃ grāhakābhāvāt pareṣṭasyāsya tattvataḥ || 48yasya punaḥ syādvādinaḥ śabdātmakaṃ bāhyaṃ vākyaṃpudgalarūpaṃ cidātmakaṃ cāṃtaraṃgamātmasvabhāvaṃ pramāṇātsiddhyati tasya vākyaṃ patraṃ bhavetproktalakṣaṇenānvitaṃ, siddhe dharmiṇi vākyetaddharmasyoditalakṣaṇasya parīkṣāviṣayatvaghaṭanāt | nanu cānekāṃtavādino'pi vākyasya grāhakaṃ kiṃ pramāṇaṃyatastatsiddhiriti cet cidātmanoṃ'taraṃgasyasvasaṃvedanapratyakṣaṃ tadātmarūpatvātvarṇapadavākyajñānapariṇato hyātmā bhāvato varṇaḥ padaṃvākyaṃ ca gīyate tataevārthapratipattighaṭanātliṃgajñānātmakabhāvaliṃgālliṃgipratipattivat, cakṣurādijñānādrūpādipratipattivacca, sarvasyācetanasyārthapratipattihetuvirodhāt anyatropacārāttatkāraṇatvāt tatkāryatvācca tadupacārasiddheḥ | tathābāhyasyeṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ grāhakaṃ tata eva tatpudgalātmakaṃtadanātmakasyeṃdriyapratyakṣagrāhyatvānupapatteriti vicāritamanyatra prapaṃcena | taduktaṃ — 49bāhyaṃ śabdātmakaṃ vākyamaṃtaraṃgaṃcidātmakaṃ | pudgalātmasvarūpaṃ tu pramāṇādyasya siddhyati || tatra vākyaṃ bhavet patraṃ tattvatolakṣaṇānvitaṃ | siddhe dharmiṇi dharmasya parīkṣāviṣayatvataḥ || iti50svābhyupagamamātrāt sarvathaikāṃtavādināṃ vidyamānamapivākyaṃ dharmiṇaḥ sveṣṭārthasādhanatvadharmādhikaraṇaṃ svasādhyārthāvinābhāviliṃgasya kasyacidapi anupapatteḥtadabhidhānāt sarvasya hetorasiddhatvācca | taducyate — 51vākyaṃ sadapi naikāṃtapakṣesveṣṭārthasādhanaṃ | svāsādhyārthāvinābhāviliṃgasyānupapattitaḥ || asiddhatvācca sarvasyahetostadabhidhānataḥ | kvārthasiddhistathācoktaṃtattvārthaślokavārtike || tatra svarūpato'siddho vādinaḥśūnyasādhane | sarvo heturyathā brahmatattvopaplavasādhane || sattvādiḥ sarvathā sādhyeśabdabhaṃguratādike | syādvādinaḥ kathaṃcittusarvathaikāṃtavādinaḥ || śabdāvinaśvaratve tu sādhyekṛtakatādayaḥ | hetavo'siddhatāṃ yāṃti bauddhādeḥprativādinaḥ || jainasya sarvathaikāṃtedhūmavattvādayo'gniṣu | sādhyeṣu hetavo'siddhāḥ parvatādautathā mitaḥ || śabdādau cākṣuṣatvādirubhayāsiddhaiṣyate | niśśeṣo'pi tathāśūnyabrahmādvaitapravādinoḥ || vādyasiddhobhayāsiddhau tatrasādhyāprasādhanau | samarthanavihīnaḥ syādasiddhaḥprativādinaḥ || heturyasyāśrayo na syādāśrayāsiddhaeva saḥ | svasādhyena vinābhāvābhāvādagamako mataḥ || pratyakṣādeḥ pramāṇatvesaṃvāditvādayo yathā |śūnyopaplavaśabdādyadvaitavādāvalaṃbināṃ || saṃdehaviṣayaḥ sarvaḥ saṃdigdhāsiddhaucyate | yathāgamapramāṇatve rudroktatvādirāsthitaḥ || sannapyajñāyamāno'trājñātāsiddhovibhāvyate | saugatāderyathā sarvaḥ sattvādiḥ sveṣṭasādhane || na nirvikalpakādhyakṣādastihetorviniścayaḥ | tatpṛṣṭhajādvikalpāccāvastugocarataḥ kvacit || anumānāṃtarāddhetuniścayevānavasthitiḥ | parāparānumānānāṃ pūrvapūrvatra vṛttitaḥ || jñānaṃ jñānāṃtarādhyakṣaṃvedatānenadarśitaḥ | sarvo heturavijñāto'navasthānāviśeṣataḥ || arthāpattiparicchedyaṃparokṣajñānamādṛtāḥ | sarve ye tepyanenoktāsvājñātāsiddhihetavaḥ || pratyakṣaṃ tu phalajñānamātmānaṃ vāsvasaṃvidaṃ | prāhurye karaṇajñānaṃ vyarthaṃ teṣāṃ niveditaṃ || pradhānapariṇamitvādacetanamitīritaṃ | jñānaṃyaiste kathaṃ na syurajñātāsiddhahetavaḥ || pratijñārthaikadeśastu svarūpāsiddhaeva naḥ | śabdo nāśī vināśitvādityādiḥ sādhyasaṃnnibhaḥ || yaḥ sādhyaviparītārthāvyabhicārīsuniścitaḥ | sa viruddhovaboddhavyastathaiveṣṭavighātakṛt || satvādiḥ kṣaṇikatvādau yathāsyādvādividviṣāṃ | anekāṃtātmakatvasya niyamāttena sādhanāt || pārārthyaṃ cakṣurādīnāṃ saṃghātatvaṃprasādhayet | teṣāṃ dravyavivartatvamevamiṣṭavighātakṛt || viruddhānna ca bhinnosausvayamiṣṭādviparyaye | sāmarthyasyāviśeṣeṇa bhedevātiprasaṃgataḥ || vivādādhyāsitaṃ dhīmaddhetukaṃkṛtakatvataḥ | yathā śakaṭamityādiviruddho'nena darśitaḥ || yathā hi buddhimatpūrvaṃ jagadetaprasādhayet | tathā buddhimato hetoranekatvaṃ śarīritāṃ || svaśarīrasya kartātmā nāśarīro'stisarvathā | kārmaṇena śarīreṇānādisaṃbaṃdhasiddhitaḥ || yataḥ sādhye śarīritve dhīmatovyabhicāritāṃ | jagatkartuḥ prapadyeta tena hetuḥ kutārkikaḥiti || 52yataścaivamakṣapādādeḥ sarvathaikāṃtavādinaḥsādhyārthāvinābhāviliṃgaṃ sarvathā na saṃbhavatyasiddhatādidoṣadūṣitatvāt tasmānna tasya patraṃsaṃbhavadarthake pratiṣṭhāpayituṃ śakyaṃ kadācijjainān pratitaduktaṃ — 53tato naivākṣapādādeḥ patraṃsaṃbhavadarthakaṃ | pratiṣṭhāpayituṃ śakyaṃ jātu syādvādinaḥprati || 54kuta iti cet55tattatvādhigamopāyaprakāśarahitatvataḥ |ityetasya prasiddhatvāddhetoravyabhicārataḥ || 56kaḥ punarasau tattvasyādhigamo nāmetisvārthākāraviniścayaḥ sunirvādha iti brūmaḥnirvikalpakadarśanasyaviniścayasya saṃśayasyevatattvādhigamatvānupapatteḥ kṣaṇakṣayapradarśanavatsvākāramātraviniścayasyāpi tadbhāvāyogātvedyākāraviniścayavirahe svākāraviniścayasyānanubhavātsvasaṃvedanasyāpi vedyavedakākārātmanaḥ pratīteḥ tathārthākāramātraviniścayasyāpitattvādhigamattvāghaṭanātsvākāraviniścayamaṃtareṇārthākāraviniścayavirodhāt | svārthākāraviniścayasyāpi kālāṃtarādau sabādhasyatadvirodhāt marīcikāviniścaye toyaviniścayavat, deśakālāṃtarāpekṣayāpi suṣṭhu nirbādhasya tathābhāvasiddheritiprapaṃcitatvādanyatra | taduktaṃ — 57tattvasyādhigamastāvatsvārthākāraviniścayaḥ |sunirbādhonyathā tasya vyavasthānupapattitaḥ || 58tarhi kastasyopāya iti cet kathyate sākalyena pramāṇaṃdeśato nayaḥ pratipattustattvādhigamopāyaḥ pratīyata evatasya śāstre vistarataḥ samarthitatvāt nacāsausarvathaikāṃtavādināmakṣapādādīnāmupapattimāskaṃdati teṣāṃ sveṣṭasya dṛṣṭeṣṭabādhitatvāt iticiṃtitaprāyaṃprapaṃcato'nyatra parīkṣādakṣabuddhibhirlakṣaṇīyaṃ, ta eva hisaṃkṣepeṇāpyuktaṃ lakṣayituṃ kṣamaṃte taduktaṃ — 59tasyopāya punaḥ kārtsyenaikadeśena vāmataḥ | pratipattuḥ pramāṇaṃ vā sannayo vā pratīyate || na cāsausarvathaikāṃtavādināmupapadyate | dṛṣṭeṣṭavādhanātteṣāṃsveṣṭasyetyapi ciṃtitaṃ || lakṣyaṃ prapaṃcatonyatraparīkṣādakṣabuddhibhiḥ | saṃkṣepatopyupakṣiptaṃ te hilakṣayituṃ kṣamāḥ || 60kaḥ punastattvādhigamopāyasya prakāśa iti cet pratipādyaṃprati sādhuśabdaistasya sphuṭaṃ pradarśanaṃ prakāśaḥ | nacākṣapādādīnāṃ sarvathā tadvyavasthāsti pramāṇavākyāsaṃbhavāt | tadapyabhāṇi — 61prakāśastasya sadvācā pratipādyaṃprati sphuṭaṃ | darśanaṃ na caiteṣāṃ tadvyavasthāsti sarvathā || 62tadanenaikāṃtavādināṃ patravākyaṃ, na saṃbhavadarthakaṃ, tattattvādhigamopāyaprakāśarahitatvāt ityanumānaṃ samarthitaṃ pratipattavyaṃ tathā patravākyaṃgūḍhamanyaccārthagūḍhādi vādinā tribhirabhihitaṃ saptakṛtvovā tathaikaviṃśati vā pariṣatprativādibhyāmavijñātārthaṃyadā tadā tadevāvijñātārthaṃ nāma nigrahasthānamāyātaṃtallakṣaṇasyānvayāt tata eva cāpratipattinigrahasthānaṃtattvato bhavedetasya yadā svapatravākyasyārthaṃ vyācaṣṭevādiprativādipariṣatpratyāyanāya tadāpivakturvipratipattirnāma nigrahasthānaṃ tenamithyārthapratipādanāt tatpratipāditārthasya visaṃvāditvasiddheranekāṃtena bādhanāt syādvādibhiḥpaścātpatravākyasyānekāṃtārthasya sādhanemithyātvapratītirvipratipattiriti lakṣaṇasyabhāvāt vākchalaṃ vāsaṃbhavadarthaparityāgenāsaṃbhavato'rthasya parikalpanātna hi pramāṇabalānnaiyāyikādiparikalpitaḥ patravākyesaṃbhavannarthaḥ siddhaḥ pratyakṣāṃdibalādanekāṃtasyaivaprasiddheḥ pratyaṃkṣaṃ hi tāvat bahiraṃtaśca tattvaṃbhāvābhāvātmakaṃ vyavasyati sarvathā virodhābhāvātbādhakarahitaṃ jātucit ekāṃtasyāsākṣātkaraṇāttathābhūtānekadharmādhiṣṭhānaṃ bhāvaḥviśeṣaṇaviśeṣyādivyavahārānyathānupapatterityanumānācca sarvaṃ bhāvābhāvātmakaṃ siddhaṃ | āgamāc casunirbādhakapramāṇād iti prapaṃcato ‘nyatra tattvārthālaṃkāredevāgame ca proktam iha patraparīkṣāyāṃ sadbhir avagataṃvyamity alaṃ prapaṃcena tad apy uktaṃ | 63tathā triḥsaptakṛtvo'pipatravākyamudīritaṃ | vādināgūḍhamanyaccāvijñātārthamupāgataṃ || pariṣatprativādibhyāmavijñātatvasaddhitaḥ |tataścāpratipattiḥ syānnigrahasthānamaṃjasā || vakturvipratipattirvāmithyārthapratipādanāt | visaṃvādakatāyogāt taduktārthasyatattvataḥ || syādvādibhiḥ punaḥpatrasyānekāṃtasādhane | bhavedvipratipattirvākchalaṃ vālakṣaṇānvayāt || taddhi saṃbhavato'rthasya parityāgenakalpanaṃ | yadasaṃbhavatorthasya pramāṇabalataśchalaṃ || na ceha saṃbhavannarthoyaugādiparikalpitaḥ |pratyakṣādibalātsiddhastatonekāṃtasiddhitaḥ || bhāvābhāvātmakaṃ vastu bahiraṃtaścatatvataḥ | pratyakṣaṃ niścinotyeva sarvathā bādhavarjitaṃ || vāstavānekadharmādhiṣṭhānaṃ bhāvoviśeṣataḥ | viśeṣaṇaviśeṣyādivyavahāraprasiddhitaḥ || siddhamityanumānāccānaṃtadharmasamāśritaṃ |samastaṃ vastu nirbādhādāgamācca pramāṇataḥ || iti prapaṃcataḥproktamanyatrehāvagamyatāṃ | sarvaṃ patraparīkṣāyāṃsadbhirityuparamyate || 64tadevaṃ patravicāraprakaraṇaparisamāptau vijigīṣoḥsyādvādino vacanaṃ caturaṃgaṃ nirākṛtāśeṣamidhyāpravādaṃ prasaraṃ śriyāsamyagdarśanādilakṣaṇayopāyabhūtayopameyānaṃtajñānādilakṣaṇalakṣmīparyaṃtatayāsadā jayatviti jaya vādenāsaṃśayati — 65jīyānnirastaniśśeṣasarvathaikāṃtaśāsanaṃ | sadā śrīvarddhamānasya vidyānaṃdasya śāsanaṃ || 66sūktābhāso bhavatibhavatastāvaduttārahetuḥsvasyānyeṣāṃ gurutamatamaśchicca mādhyasthabhājāṃ | tanmatvaivaṃ vipulamatibhistatrayatno vidheyonānaṃdāyākhilakhaladhiyāṃ taṃ hi kaḥ kartumīśaḥ || 67itiśrīsyādvādapatividyānaṃdasvāmiviracitā patraparīkṣā samāptā | śubhaṃ bhūyāt
